Freddie Mercury: A Life in Ten Pictures
BBC2, 9 p.m.
“Sometimes Freddie Mercury would say, ‘Come on, Ratty, get your camera. I look wonderful, I look great, ”says former roadie Peter“ Ratty ”Hince. Mercury usually looked fabulous, but this moving and insightful film reveals its quieter side through ten key photos he captured during his tragically short life. Starting with a picture of baby Farrokh Bulsara proudly sitting in a great looking stroller on the island of Zanzibar, and some from his art school days when he had girlfriends, we get a real sense of the dissonance between the shy and thoughtful husband and his later one extravagant person.
