Cincinnati basketball’s Prince Toyambi had a successful operation on Monday to correct a heart problem, UC said on Tuesday.
The condition of the Redshirt newbie was recently discovered in the preseason.
“Prince is one of the most sincere young men I have come across in my 20+ years as a coach,” Bearcats coach John Brannen said in a statement. “We are thrilled with his successful surgery and look forward to working with him throughout his recovery.”
A schedule for Toyambi’s return to court has not yet been set. Hailing from the Congo, the 6-foot-7, 225-pound Toyambi who attended high school in Fresno, California, was recognized as a Bearcats Academic Honor Roll and Dean’s List in the 2019 Spring Semester.
“Now my focus is on recovering and supporting my team off the field,” Toyambi said in a message posted on his Twitter account.
