In a statement, Lighthizer described the author and venture capitalist of the “Hillbilly Elegy” as a champion for the working class and economic policy of the Trump administration.

Confirmation comes about a week after Vance also received confirmation from Robert O’Brien, the last national security adviser to former President Trump.
The double endorsement could bolster Vance in a crowded GOP primary framed by candidate loyalty to Trump, who remains hugely popular with the Republican base.
