The Tallahassee School of Math and Science (TSMS) is accepting K-8 enrollment applications from December 1 to February 1 for the 2021-2022 school year. TSMS provides a unique, STEM-oriented educational environment that fosters a lifelong love of learning.
The school is hosting a virtual open house where parents and students can find out more about what TSMS has to offer. All applications submitted after February 1st will be placed on a waiting list. A lottery drawing will be held on February 17th if the number of applicants exceeds the capacity of a program, class, grade level, or building.
TSMS school principal Ahmet Temel emphasizes the precautions and preparations the school is taking to manage the effects of COVID-19. “With mandatory masks, frequent disinfection of public areas, and distance learning options, we ensure we can protect our students while we are still studying and engaging,” he said.
“I am proud to say that our new circumstances have faltered our academic expectations and our employees have found ways to adapt while still providing excellent services, including our home visits, while observing health and safety precautions “said Temel.
TSMS has made many changes over the past year, not just in terms of distance learning but also on campus. “Our brand new middle school building opened in August this year and includes a new teachers lounge, media center, STEM laboratory and classrooms for our students,” said Headmaster Temel. “This additional building expanded our campus and allowed us to safely implement social distancing guidelines. We now have plenty of space to welcome a new class of students into the TSMS family. ”
TSMS is designed to provide a research-based curriculum and offers a range of free extra-curricular activities – such as robotics, science Olympics, math Olympics, and college tutoring, as well as soccer, basketball, and the arts – to give students the opportunity to expand their knowledge outside of the school Classroom.
TSMS recognizes the importance of student-parent-teacher relationships in a student’s academic success. Parents have real-time access to student grades and test scores, knowing that their child is getting the individual attention needed to achieve their personal goals.
