ROCKFORD (WREX) – OSF Healthcare’s Saint Anthony Medical Center radiation equipment has been upgraded to ensure radiation patients receive the best treatment available.
OSF Healthcare’s Saint Anthony Medical Center received the Varian True Beam Linear Accelerator. According to hospital staff, the technology will provide patients with faster, safer, and more targeted care for radiation. The new device improves targeted radiation in many areas, including the lungs, spine and brain.
“This definitely makes the patient’s experience more comfortable and safer in my opinion. The comfortable part comes with the fact that when the treatments are done faster they have to sit still for a shorter period of time. The cancer center started using this new technology about three weeks ago.
