The International Center of Photography is hosting a series of conversations with innovative street photographers at the Southampton Arts Center in August in conjunction with the new SAC exhibition, Beyond the Streets: On Paper.
ICP Talks is a series of illustrated conversations with distinguished photographers who work on the street and will be presented on Thursdays 5th, 12th and 19th August.
From Richard Renaldi’s work that creates moments of vulnerability and compassion among strangers, to Andre Wagner’s exploration of the American landscape, to Alex Webb and Rebecca Norris Webb’s individual and collaborative projects, these conversations deal with work on the street.
All lectures are at 7 p.m. and tickets are $ 20.

Richard Renaldi, who will speak on August 5, is a portrait photographer who captures encounters with people and strangers on the streets of New York City and beyond. Renaldi will review his photographic work, including his most recent project, Touching Strangers, in which he mated strangers on the street and invited them to touch or hug each other to create moments of vulnerability and compassion captured in his photographs became.
His other notable projects include his first monograph, Figure and Ground, edited by Aperture (2006), which showcases seven years of work exploring the relationship between his subject and Manhattan, a tribute to New York nightlife and the subcultures and scenes that those in the street between dusk and dawn.
Andre Wagner, who will speak on Aug. 12, is a Brookly-based photographer who explores the American social landscape through street photography lineage. Wagner’s work captures the poetic nuances of city life through the streets, neighborhoods, and youth of New York City, exploring topics such as race, class, community, and cultural identity.
Wagner is currently Public Artist in Residence with the NYC Commission on Human Rights and is releasing his latest publication this year, “New City, Old Blues,” a culmination of eight years that documents the changing neighborhoods of Bushwick, Brooklyn and beyond.
Photographers Alex Webb and Rebecca Norris Webb will present a dynamic lecture on August 19th entitled “The Blind Man & The Bus: On Street Photography and the Poetic Image”. discuss their work in the context of the tradition of street photography.
Alex Webb, a Magnum Photos member since 1979, has published over 15 books, including Brooklyn: The City Within, recently published by Rebecca Norris Webb. Rebecca Norris Webb, poet, photographer and recently NEA scholar, has published eight books that interweave texts and their photographs.
On August 26, there will be a bonus discussion, book signing and cocktail reception with authors John Kurdewan and Steven Stolman on their new book, “Bill Cunningham Was There: Spring Flings + Summer Soirées,” a look back at the genius of The New York Times’ photojournalist , Bill Cunningham.
