PFF is expecting a breakout year from Antonio Gibson, who originally appeared on NBC Sports Washington
The Washington Football Team selected Antonio Gibson in the third round of last year’s NFL Draft. The former Memphis running back had a good year rookie, and now PFF’s Zach Tantillo expects the 23-year-old to be one of the breakout students in the 2021 season.
In his first season, Gibson had 795 rushing yards for 170 carries. The Washington running back won a total of over 1,000 yards and scored 11 touchdowns.
According to PFF, Gibson ended the 2020 season with 37 forced missed tackles and had four roaring touchdowns of over ten yards or more. Despite being a rookie, Gibson put together a season that many would expect from a seasoned running back with plenty of NFL experience.
Additionally, PFF is hoping Washington will feed him more the ball in the sophomore year of running back as he’s just scratching the surface of his potential.
“If Antonio Gibson gets a full workload – and no fewer carries than players like Frank Gore – then expect him to show up as a top 10 running back in the NFL next season,” Tantillo wrote.
Other players on the list include Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow, Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb, and Denver Broncos wide receiver Jerry Jeudy.
