Newly sworn republican legislature condemned by the Holocaust Museum after quoting Hitler

The US Holocaust Memorial Museum has convicted newly seated MP Mary Miller (R-Ill.) For saying earlier this week that Adolf Hitler was “right” about the value of influencing a nation’s youth.

Miller appeared at a rally on Capitol Hill on Tuesday calling for the 2020 presidential election to be repealed, saying, “Hitler was right about one thing: whoever has youth has the future. Our children are propagated. “

The Holocaust Museum condemned the statements “unequivocally”.

“The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum clearly condemns any leader who tries to assert a position by claiming that Adolf Hitler was ‘right’,” the museum said in a statement. “Adolf Hitler’s Germany plunged Europe into the most destructive event in human history, World War II and the Holocaust, which led to the genocide of six million European Jews.”

Others quickly called Miller for the comments, including Holocaust survivor Irene Weiss.

“I beg our leaders and all Americans not to abuse this story – my story -” Weiss, a survivor of the Auschwitz death camp, said in the statement. “It minimizes the evil that National Socialism was, dishonors the memory of the victims and hurts the survivors. We should learn from history and not take advantage of it. “

“I think she should resign. She should definitely be condemned, ”Schakowsky told the Chicago Sun-Times.

Numerous Twitter users pointed out that the point Miller was trying to get across is often enough that she could have relied on someone other than the Nazi leader.

Whitney Houston also sang that children are our future.

If Mary Miller wanted to convey her beliefs to young people, there were MANY other people who were not Hitler and whom she could have said were right.

Frankly, if you want to make the banal point that youth is the future, you can find someone who is not Hitler to quote. The fact that you went out of your way to quote Hitler is a tell. https://t.co/BIpkYjDw65
