Ben Simmons has sensationally turned his Philadelphia teammates away from trips to Los Angeles to convince him to commit to the 2021-22 season while continuing to ponder his trade demand.

According to The Athletic’s Shams Charania, the Sixers’ core leaders including Joel Embiid, Tobias Harris and Boomers teammate Matisse Thybulle and more should take a jet to LA to see Simmons and convince him to reverse his trade demand and focus for the coming season.

However, he reports that these players were told not to come and that Simmons did not want to see them as he did not want to change his mind or waste their time.

The Sixers’ training camp begins next week with a media day scheduled for Tuesday (AEST) to address the Simmons situation.

Simmons has reportedly told Philadelphia that he will not show up for this training camp and that he has no plans to ever play for the team again as he plans to enforce a trade in the coming weeks.

The All-Star’s three-time relationship with Philadelphia has been next to nonexistent since the Game 7 loss to the Atlanta Hawks in the Eastern Conference semifinals, according to post-game comments from Doc Rivers and Embiid.

The Sixers have opened trade talks around Simmons since mid-July but have not received any offers they consider worthy of the 25-year-old.

Teams are calling, but the lack of acceptable offers has led Philadelphia to believe that the best way to protect his worth is to convince him to stay and sign up for another season.

But Simmons doesn’t look like he’s going to give in to his demeanor and is likely to receive hefty fines and withhold gaming payments the longer he refuses to show up.
