Miami Dade College is partnering with SoftBank to break new ground in data science prosperity

DS4A / Empowerment was launched in 2020 and aims to train at least 10,000 people from underrepresented communities over the next three years – prioritizing those who identify as Black, Latinx, or LGBTQ + – and finding new avenues for economic opportunities in the fastest growing countries in the world to find industries. Regardless of major, all MDC students can complete the assessment to enroll in the DS4A / Empowerment pilot cohort of 1,000 fellows, which will include at least 50 students from Miami Miami Footprint clear this fall.

Participants will receive 18 weeks of data and analytics training as they work on case studies and projects, including projects submitted by SoftBank portfolio companies. The initiative will also connect participants with mentors who offer professional development and career coaching. At the end of the program, external participants will receive credit for a Bachelor of Data Analysis at MDC, which will reduce their overall tuition fees, and they will be linked to employment opportunities at SoftBank and other leading companies in the business, financial services, technology, healthcare and consulting, and consumer sectors .
