Lockland School District, Village of Lockland and Cincinnati Bell partner for Smart City Solution

CINCINNATI – (BUSINESS WIRE) – The Lockland School District and Village of Lockland are proud to announce a partnership with Cincinnati Bell to create a “Smart City” vision that brings free public WiFi to the Village. The aim is to provide an internet connection to residents who otherwise may not have reliable access to education, health and employment opportunities.

In collaboration with the Lockland School District and the Village of Lockland, Cincinnati Bell installed a Smart City solution with WiFi coverage that “lights” 15 locations in the Village. These locations include 8 public hotspots and 7 apartment complexes with a high concentration of Lockland School District students. The community can register via a welcome page under “PantherPrideFi”.

The project will address digital justice by providing free public WiFi hotspots and providing high-speed internet access not only to students to support education and distance learning, but also to all residents to improve the quality of life in Lockland.

“It is so exciting to see the tremendous efforts so many people put into making WiFi available throughout the village of Lockland. I would like to thank the local Lockland School District and Cincinnati Bell for working so hard to make this dream a reality for the children and residents of our village, ”said Mark Mason Sr., Mayor of Lockland Village.

“Our collaboration with the school district and Cincinnati Bell will have a positive impact on our residents and especially on the students in the village for many years to come. The “lighting up” of our village via WLAN will not only help to educate the children of our village, but also create opportunities for our residents. ”

“The Lockland Local School District is excited to work with our village leaders and Cincinnati Bell to bring much-needed WiFi to our entire community. Delivering digital equity to our students and families is a priority for the district as we recognize that in the 21st century, access to high-speed internet is no longer a privilege but a lifeline, ”said Bob Longworth, superintendent of the Lockland Local School District.

“As a result of our working together over the past few months to achieve our dream of illuminating the village, many of our students and residents will now enjoy the opportunity to continue their education and gain access to more employment opportunities. and create strong connections to the world, resulting in an improved quality of life. ”

For the past two years, Cincinnati Bell has provided similar solutions in countries such as Covington, Middletown, Montgomery County, Dayton’s Oregon District, the City of Wyoming, and the City of Fairborn.

“Cincinnati Bell has been connecting businesses and customers for more than 140 years, and our WiFi and Smart City partnership with Lockland Village and Lockland School District continues that tradition,” said Jason Praeter, president and general manager of Cincinnati Bell’s Entertainment & Communications company . “Ultimately, digital equity is about providing universal internet access and opportunities through connectivity, regardless of socio-economic status.
