Kroger, Walmart closed early pending further protests

CINCINNATI – Kroger and Walmart locations in the greater Cincinnati area closed their doors early Sunday and plan to continue early closings in anticipation of ongoing protests.

Kroger announced the decision to buyers via their intercom to close the locations on Sunday evening at 8:30 p.m.

Walmart issued a statement of their closings after stores closed at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday. Signs were posted on the doors of the closed locations.

“We closed several hundred stores tonight before possible protests,” the statement said.

Walmart stores locked doors, signs, and in some places blocked doors with guardrails and stacked pallets of water bottles high on the inside of the doors.
