CINCINNATI – Kroger Health announced plans to launch Gauss Surgical’s smartphone-enabled COVID-19 rapid antigen test kits for the home nationwide.
The test, currently awaiting approval for emergency use by the Food and Drug Administration, includes video instructions that will guide users through the correct way to collect the nasal swab and complete the test through the app. Users wait 15 minutes before being prompted to scan their rapid tests.

This is the first rapid COVID-19 test that can be performed entirely with just a smartphone and a lateral flow assay. The test does not involve a laboratory, telemedicine visit, or special electronics.
Kroger expects to sell the test online and without a prescription in its 2,200 pharmacies across the country.
