ANALYSIS: It’s surprising to see that Votto is still in 68% of the Yahoo! Leagues, considering how he’s done lately. He broke his thumb in early May and missed it for over a month, but has been incarcerated since leaving the IL on June 8th. He cuts .286 / .395 / .496 with seven homers, 25 RBI and a stolen base in 133 at-bats since his activation. He’s taken his game to another level in the last 20 games, particularly by rocking a stellar .314 / .435 / .586 batting line that comes with five doubles, four home runs and 10 RBI over 85 record appearances.
He’s the best sports career in hard hit rate (48.3%) and barrel rate (13.2%) while still on the base with a run rate of 12%. Its .382 xwOBA and .523 xSLG are in the 91st and 90th percentiles, respectively. He’s going less than his historical rate (16.8%) but that has resulted in better contact quality, which should be an advantage next week as the Reds are set to face six right-handed starters in seven games next week. Cincinnati visits the Cubs for a set of four games before heading to Queens to take on the Mets for another three. Votto cuts .284 / .386 / .523 with eight doubles, 10 home runs and 27 RBI against right-handed pitching this season.
He has done well in his career against three of the likely starters he will face. Kyle Hendricks (1,271 OPS, 3 HR in 33 AT bats), Zach Davies (.928 OPS, 1 HR in 31 ABs) and Carlos Carrasco (1,341 OPS, 1 HR in 14 ABs) are all plus matchups for Votto. In addition, he was replaced by Adbert Alzolay earlier this season and has already driven Alec Mills deeply. The 37-year-old is ready to smash, and if you can’t streamer him on your lineup all week, then you should consider him on DFS, especially if you are up against Hendricks, Davies and Carrasco.
