Smoke Justis has been thinking outside and inside the box during this pandemic. The Covington restaurant added pod dining and outdoor heaters in hopes of attracting customers while adhering to government orders to shut down indoor dining. It also adds Thanksgiving takeaway options to the menu. “We are focused on smoked meat, which results in comfortable eating, so it is the perfect place for a customized comfort experience for those who do not have large gatherings,” said General Manager Demian Wilson. Thanksgiving meat platters with classic side dishes can be ordered and picked up until Wednesday evening. Press on Monmouth is also expanding the menu in the next few days. “You have your turkey. We’ll make a smoked sauce, cranberry sauce, Yukon gold potatoes, corn and I’ll make an apple pie,” said General Manager Jason Campbell. After learning last week that the dining rooms would have to close, the Newport restaurant makes a last-minute decision to sell Thanksgiving dishes. “First, we need the income, and second, we have the time and space for it,” said Campbell. Across the river, Mita’s in Cincinnati serves non-traditional take-away dishes. And while they sold out fast, the Tano Bistro in Hamilton still has some “gobble wobble” dinner deals on offer. These are all ways to help the locals, and it offers a convenience side. “All we can do to give everyone who is just feeling a sense of comfort, a sense of normalcy at a time that just seems uncertain,” said Wilson.

After learning last week that the dining rooms were due to close, the Newport restaurant made the last minute decision to put Thanksgiving dishes up for serving.
“First, we need the income and, second, we have the time and space to do it,” said Campbell.
