In honor of Women’s Month, the Cincinnati chapter of Dress for Success announced its new location in Norwood and reopening plans for the summer of 2021. The nonprofit is designed to empower women to join the workforce or get back into the workforce. Dress for Success Cincinnati reports that it has helped nearly 20,000 women in Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky since it started in 1999. The group announced in May that it would move from its location on West Fourth Street in downtown Cincinnati to Norwood. “The move is the result of a forced move from the building in downtown Cincinnati that is being converted into residential units,” said a written statement from the organization. The new location for DFS customers, employees, donation centers and earn-income venture Portaluca will be at 4623 Wesley Avenue in Norwood. During the pandemic, DFS switched to convert their styling boutique into a roadside service, and other programs were turned virtual or into a phone call service. Dr. Zaria Davis is both a customer and a member of the Board of Directors of DFS Cincinnati. Talking about the new location, she said it was “not just that you know people who go in and out, but that they really get involved,” she said. “People feel like they have this connection with ‘clothes’ that they haven’t had before.” DFS plans to open the Norwood site on June 1st. Personal services since the virtual start in March 2020. In order to finance the move, bear the moving costs and build on the existing program, the group started its first fundraising campaign called TransformHER Campaign. The goal is to raise $ 1.2 million. To date, the group has reportedly raised more than $ 650,000. To donate money, clothing or a potential DFS customer, click the link above.
