Enquirer names Cincinnati high school athletes the week’s winners of September 11th

In a poll that ended September 11th, cincinnati.com readers selected the winners of the Cincinnati Enquirer Athlete of the Week for August 31st through September. 6 voting period.

The winners will receive a certificate that will be mailed through the school’s sports department.

You don’t have to be a subscriber to vote from Monday afternoons to 5:00 p.m. every Friday during the season. Please send all nominees to [email protected] by Monday morning for the previous week’s performances. The new ballot will be announced on Monday evening. You can vote once an hour from any device.

This week’s winners are:

Fall Boys Team: Oak Hills Football – Oak Hills won their first two games of the season, knocking out Hamilton 3-0 and scoring two goals in the second half to beat Elder 2-1.

Fall Girls’ Team: East Clinton Volleyball – East Clinton improved to 4-1 and jumped to the top of their league after defeating Clinton Massie, Fayetteville and Georgetown.

Soccer team: Kings – Under the lights of Saturday night, Kings was 0-0 with Anderson after a quarter. Then the Knights rattled off 70 points for a 70-34 drub from Hosting Anderson.

Cross-country boys: James Schmidt, Oak Hills – The senior took first place at the Lebanon Running Warriors Cross Country Invitational 2020 on September 5th with a time of 15: 42.3 and helped Oak Hills to a sixth place on the team.

Cross Country Girls: Faith Duncan, Lebanon – The senior took first place at the Lebanon Running Warriors Invitational with a time of 18: 18.4.

Field hockey: Molly Kaes, Mount Notre Dame – She scored two goals in the 3-2 win against St. Ursula on September 4th and one goal in the 2-1 loss against Magnificat on August 31st.

Footballer, Big School: Ben Hambelton, Elder The quarterback was 14 for 16 for 317 yards and four touchdowns in the 42-14 win over Floyd Central on September 4th.

Soccer player, small school: Clay Badylak, McNicholas The quarterback went 8-of-18 for 178 yards and a 60-yard touchdown pass to Caden Conrad, in addition to a touchdown in the 30-6 win over Fenwick.

Ohio Boys Golfer: Jake Wittenauer, Little Miami – The freshman was the medalist with a 38 in the loss to Middletown Christian on September 1st.

Ohio girl golfer: Izzy Selby, Seton – She was a medalist in the 178-181 win over Lakota West with a 3-over part 38 on the back of Miami Whitewater on September 3rd. She was also a co-medalist in the loss to Harrison with a 7-over 43 at Miami Whitewater.

Boys soccer players: RJ Linenkugel, Oak Hills – The senior had both goals in the 2-1 win against Elder on September 5 and a goal and an assist in the 3-0 win over Hamilton on September 3.

Girls soccer players: Christie Rolfes, Seton – The senior scored two goals in a 4-0 win over East Central on September 5 and one against Ursuline Academy in a 3-1 win on August 31.

Tennis players: Nina Dhaliwal, Ursuline – She beat her first lone opponent from the Seton on September 1st.

Girl volleyball player: Diana Clark, Loveland – The senior captain had seven aces, 26 digs, three kills and a serve of 2.24 in three games last week, two of which were wins.
