Edgars Austin Dahlke was selected as the male recipient of the Pat Richter Award 2021 for Most Outstanding Three Sports Athlete
The 6-foot-1 linebacker / running back / wing guard / infielder / sprinter helped the Wildcats achieve tremendous success in soccer, basketball, baseball, and athletics, and his excellence in all four sports led to his selection as a 2020-21 male recipient of WisSports.net’s Pat Richter Award for Triple Threat Athlete of the Year.
The Triple Threat Athlete of the Week is an award presented on WisSports.net to the best senior athletes in three sports in the state. At the end of the school year, those awarded the weekly honor can qualify for the Pat Richter Award, which is given to the best boys and girls in the season’s three sports. Hugh V. “Pat” Richter is one of Wisconsin’s most famous student athletes in the state’s history. He was a three-sport athlete at Madison East High School and competed in football, basketball, and baseball. He rose to fame at the University of Wisconsin, earned nine college degrees in three sports, and later became an Athletic Director in Wisconsin.
Dahlke’s accomplishments in football include serving as the all-state first-team linebacker for the Associated Press and WFCA; Marawood Conference Back of the Year for outstanding performance as a running back; Leaders in sacks (13); State Leader at Tackles for Loss (26); and helped Edgar to a 9-0 record in 2020. He stormed for 797 yards and 14 touchdowns and also caught 11 passes for 206 yards.
In basketball, Dahlke earned honorable mention in the Marawood North Conference as a junior and senior. He helped Edgar achieve a 23-3 record and a place in the WIAA Division 4 State Tournament in 2020-21.
In baseball, Dahlke unanimously won the awards of the first team in the entire league in the second year and, as a senior, the laurels of the second team when the Wildcats won the championship and rose to the sections. He hit .456 with 24 RBI and 15 stolen bases as a senior.
In athletics, Dahlke was a member of school record teams in the 4 × 100 and 4 × 200 relays. He won five medals at the WIAA State Track & Field Meet, including the second in the 4 × 400 relay in 2019 and the first in the 4 × 100 and 4 × 400 relays, the second in the 200-meter run and the fifth in the long jump in 2021.
