Downtown Cincinnati restaurants are welcoming families to Mother’s Day as restrictions ease amid COVID-19
After a Mother’s Day quarantine in 2020, families flocked to restaurants this year to celebrate the special day as restrictions gradually ease in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic. Servers like Sugar ‘N Spice’s Megan Brown spent a busy Sunday morning serving brunch audiences on Mother’s Day: “Last year it didn’t feel like a party, and it really does this year,” said Brown. After the social restrictions from COVID-19 slowed restaurants around this time last year, Brown and other restaurateurs say they’re glad to see the busy Mother’s Day rush return. “We’ve all been through a lot, but mothers have gone through more, so we wanted to do a little more besides the pancakes and an omelette so that every mother who walks in could have a long stemmed rose and her rubber duck. “Brown said. Diners like Samantha Gurr were happy to have conversations while they waited for a table at the popular downtown brunch spot.” Last year we didn’t see each other at all, we made a timeline, and this year we all managed to get together, “said Gurr. Mother Tina Murray says she is happy to have her family with her this year “We missed last year. It was a couple of us who teamed up, but it’s better if you have a few family members. “Last year it didn’t feel like a party and this year it felt like it did,” said Brown.

Guests like Samantha Gurr enjoyed conversation while waiting to be seated at the popular downtown brunch spot.

Mom Tina Murray says she’s happy to have her family with her this year.
“We missed it last year. It was a couple of us who teamed up, but it’s better if you have a few family members. It’s always better to be personal as a family, “said Murray.
