DAYTON, KY – (BUSINESS WIRE) – The Dayton Housing Authority is proud to announce a new initiative with Cincinnati Bell Inc. to bring free high-speed internet to approximately 143 residents in their Dayton shared apartment.

Cincinnati Bell’s UniCity Smart City program, in partnership with the Dayton Housing Authority, is providing free WiFi to residents of Jamestown Village, an affordable 45-unit community in Dayton, Kentucky. The Cincinnati Bell WiFi network offers internet speeds that support remote learning, remote working, and telehealth applications for Jamestown Village residents.

“We are extremely excited to offer this service to residents of the Dayton Housing Authority,” said Gordon Henry, Executive Director of the Dayton Housing Authority. “During the pandemic, it became even clearer that accessibility is critical in today’s world. The goal is to improve the quality of life of our residents and we hope that this will be a building block for further projects and improvements in our shared apartment. ”

Cincinnati Bell’s UniCity practice last year announced similar partnerships with organizations like the Housing Authority of Covington and Greater Dayton Premier Management. UniCity also has Smart City partnerships with the City of Wyoming, the City of Fairborn, the City of Covington, the Oregon District of Dayton, the Village of Lockland, Montgomery County, the City of Loveland, and Boone Counties.

Jason Praeter, president and general manager of the entertainment and communications business of Cincinnati Bell, said these partnerships are in line with Cincinnati Bell’s commitment to increasing digital equity in the markets it serves.

“Ultimately, digital justice is about providing universal access and universal opportunity through connectivity,” said Praeter. “With the partnership we are announcing today, more Dayton Housing Authority residents will have access to educational tools, employment opportunities and healthcare resources.”
