Daktronics LED display system to entertain FC Cincinnati fans at TQL Stadium

Two video displays, two ribbon displays and a pitch level display for a visual experience of fans at professional soccer games in Ohio

BROOKINGS, SD – May 27, 2021 – When fans walk to TQL Stadium, they will be amazed by the on-field play and visual experience that Brookings, South Dakota-based Daktronics (NASDAQ-DAKT) provides at the Cincinnati FC Games , to chat. Four LED displays, totaling over 6,200 square feet, were designed, manufactured and installed in 2020 to be ready for the 2021 season on the professional soccer field in Cincinnati, Ohio. A pitch-level display was also relocated to the new stadium to provide a total of 8,000 square meters of LED signage.

“The main video card is a key element of our fan experience,” said Meg Ryan, CMO of Cincinnati FC. ‘Not only is it the widest screen in MLS, it’s also the most dynamic. Our partnership with Daktronics enables us to create immersive fan experiences with unique content running on their platform. We are excited to showcase this technology with Cincinnati and MLS. ‘

Video displays at each end of the stadium and tape displays along the seat paneling of each sideline surround fans in a visual experience only available in the stadium. The main video display measures approximately 23 feet high and 151 feet wide – the longest main video display in a football-specific stadium – and the auxiliary display measures 23 feet high and 50.5 feet wide. Both displays have 13HD pixel layouts for great clarity and contrast with all of the images shown for fans to enjoy.

“The amazing new venue with the latest technology for displays and control systems will provide an unforgettable fan experience,” said Daryl Mihal, Daktronics Regional Manager. ‘We’re grateful and excited to be part of this new chapter for Cincinnati FC. We can’t wait to bring the Queen City’s newest crown jewel to life for the first game. ‘

Two ribbon LED displays will be installed to complement the main displays with information and graphics, while also providing the ability to highlight sponsors during the events. One display measures 2.5 feet high and 332.5 feet long and the other measures 2.5 feet high and 366 feet long. Both have a pixel pitch of 16 millimeters.

In addition, the pitch level displays provided in 2019 will be relocated to the new stadium to continue to surround the field with LED technology. This provides a desirable advertising medium and more digital space for dynamic graphics to enhance the gaming experience.

The main and auxiliary displays can be divided into variable content zones so that one large image at a time can be displayed or divided into multiple zones. Live video, instant replays, current statistics, graphics and animations, and sponsorship news can all be displayed in these zones.

With this installation, Daktronics will also incorporate its powerful show control solution. This industry-leading system offers a combination of display control software, world-class video processing, data integration and playback hardware to create an easy-to-use production solution.
