Cincinnati’s Rubber Duck Regatta is going virtual again

One of the largest fundraising campaigns in the region is going virtual again this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Freestore Foodbank announced on Tuesday that the 27th annual Rubber Duck Regatta will take place this year, but it will look a little different. Cranes drop thousands of rubber ducks bought through Greater Cincinnati into the Ohio River near the Serpentine Wall. The fundraiser alone has helped provide millions of meals to the people in the area. This year the Rubber Duck Regatta will be held on September 5th during the Cincinnati Riverfest and before the Western & Southern / WEBN Fireworks. During the pandemic, Freestore Foodbank has distributed over 42 million meals and organizers say the demand remains high. “Over the past year we have seen a record number of families and children who need our help with serving food. We are seeing more and more families using freestore services that have never needed us before. We don’t see any slowdown in the next few years, ”said Trisha Rayner, chief external affairs officer. “Without this event, we wouldn’t be able to help the nearly 90,000 children in our community who don’t know where their next meal is coming from. They need us now more than ever. ”You can buy ducks online by clicking here. Ducks can also be purchased by calling 513-929-3825 or texting “DUCK” to 833-709-0969.
