Chipotle Mexican Grill is testing a new menu item and is only available in Cincinnati (and Sacramento).
The chain is testing smoked brisket in 64 restaurants in Cincinnati and part of Sacramento. The latest protein offering includes smoked beef brisket that is seasoned with a blend of spices, sautéed and refined with a sauce made from Mexican peppers.
“We’re excited to introduce a new responsible brisket that tastes great and meets our industry-leading standards for Food with Integrity,” said Chris Brandt, chief marketing officer, in a statement. “The richness of our real smoked brisket recipe provides our diners with a desirable new flavor as we continue to innovate on our menu.”
In 2019 and 2020, three Chipotle menu items, Carne Asada, Supergreens Salad Mix, and Queso Blanco, were tested and rolled out nationally.
In July, Chipotle announced that it was testing coriander-lime-cauliflower rice at restaurants in Denver and Wisconsin. In Cleveland and Indianapolis, a quesadilla was also only offered in digital form.
The company introduced new certified organic sodas, agua frescas and teas from the farmer-founded Tractor Beverage Co. to all US restaurants in late July.
Brisket is available for in-restaurant, online, mobile, and contactless orders at participating locations for a limited time.
