After a closed circuit on Tuesday night, nine city council candidates appeared with the coveted support of the Cincinnati Democratic Committee.
The democratic slate consisted of six men and three women; six of the nine are black. All three women are black.
Efforts on Tuesday evening to add activist Brian Garry and Cincinnati Federation of Teachers organizer Michelle Dillingham to the list failed. The Democrats supported Dillingham in their 2013 and 2017 city council elections.
She blamed “party politics” for it.
“I will run for a Democrat,” Dilligham told the Enquirer after the vote on Tuesday evening. “I plan to win as a Democrat. And I will rule as a Democrat.”
The Democrats approved the nominations committee’s recommended list last week.
So who was advocated?
Here is the Democratic list of city council candidates:
Two incumbents:
- Greg Landsman, 44, from Mount Washington, elected in 2017.
- Jan-Michele Lemon Kearney, 65, of North Avondale, will be named in 2020
