MOUNT PLEASANT, me. – Central Michigan baseball coach Jordan Bischel announced Tuesday his signing class for 2021, which includes nine aspiring Chippewas.
The new Chippewa Nine, slated to join the CMU for the 2022 season, includes five pitchers (two of which are left-handed) and represents the Chippewa’s strong recruiting base in the Midwest, which represents Michigan, Illinois, Ohio and Wisconsin.
“Obviously this has been an extremely challenging year from a recruiting standpoint,” said CMU coach Jordan Bischel. “Most of our engagements came after the pandemic started, which means much of the experience was virtual. The combination of that momentum with restored eligibility for members of last year’s team resulted in our smallest recruiting class in our three years here.
“Even so, we believe that each of these young men will not only contribute positively to our depth of field, but also to the positive direction of energy and enthusiasm in our program. Each of these student athletes is really excited to become one.” Chippewa; and we’re just as happy to have her on board. “
