Lumami, May 10th (MExN): A revised volume of the book “Latest Advances in Geoscientific Research in Northeast India” by Professor BV Rao, Department of Geology, Nagaland University (NU), Kohima Campus, Meriema, was published on May 4th.

The book was published by Professor Paradesi Lal, NU Vice Chancellor, in the presence of Professor Sangyu, Dean of the NU School of Sciences, at the NU headquarters in Lumami.

Northeast India is a geologically complex and fascinating region that is part of two plate tectonic boundaries and has attracted the attention of earth scientists from different parts of the world, according to a press release received on Monday.

The press release states that the book is a contribution from a variety of disciplines including geology, petrology, geochemistry, mineral and energy resources, environmental geology, geomorphology and hydrogeology, structural geology, morphotectonics, and geohazards. This volume contains 22 peer-reviewed papers (chapters), mainly by researchers from the northeast region who have devoted most of their lives to understanding the complex geology of the region.

The 348-page book was published with ISBN number 978-93-89262-08-7 in 2021 with financial support from Nagaland University, DST and MoES from South-Eastern Book Agencies, Guwahati.

This particular volume would be of great help to the earth scientists involved in researching the geology of northeast India and would encourage young researchers to face new challenges with modern concepts and applications, the press release said.
