Morgantown, West Virginia – Austin Ball, a 6’7 forward from Man, West Virginia, led Man High School to the Class A state championship and was named captain of the all-state team last season.
Now, Ball, recently reclassified to the 2023 class, has received a scholarship offer from Bob Huggins and West Virginia University.
Ball averaged 19.5 points per game for the Man Hillbillies last season when they drove to their first state championship.
“He’s very versatile. If we get in trouble, he can always get the ball down for us, ”said Man coach TJ Blevins. “I have to list him as a center because I like the old way of having two guards, two strikers and one center, but he can play positions one through five. In college he’ll be a two or a three. “
In addition to an offer from the Mountaineers, Ball has received offers from Marshall, Radford, Fairfield, and Drexel, but he recently moved to the Miller School of Albemarle in Virginia and more offers are now expected from major schools that will give him more exposure .
Ball is a long, athletic, skillful player who can score both from the perimeter and into the basket. Although it will get a lot of attention from several schools, West Virginia is its home state and it would look great in the old gold and blues!
