Beat the Heat: 8 Ohio Outdoor Water Parks To Help You Cool Off

CLEVELAND (WJW) – Opening day for many of Ohio’s outdoor water parks has come and gone, and in this heat, it’s a blessing.

Here are some of the best from Northeast Ohio:

Baylor Beach Park

The 2-hectare sandy-bottomed swimming lake is located in Navarre and has a 90-foot slide, children’s slides and diving boards. There is a separate, smaller lake for pedal boats. The opening day for swimming and park activities is May 29th. Motorhome parking spaces are also available.

Cedar Point Shores water park

Cedar Point Shores opens for the season on May 29th. The 18-acre extension of the amusement park in Sandusky features dozens of water slides, a lazy river, and wading pools. Cabana rentals are available.

Clay’s Park Resort

The 10-acre sandy-bottomed lake in North Lawrence features water slides, bouncy castles, zip lines and a wading pool. There are also kayaks, canoes, mini golf, and volleyball courts. The water park is open from May 28th to September 6th. The park also offers tent and RV sites, as well as cabin rentals.

Pioneer Waterland and Dry Fun Park

Located in Chardon, Pioneer Waterland features six story water slides, a lazy river, a bouncy cushion and an obstacle course. It is open from May 29th to August 22nd. On the dry side there are go-karts, batting cages, and mini golf.

Waterhole in the Monsoon Lagoon

This Port Clinton park has a bit of everything. There are slides and a lazy river, but also go-karts and exotic animals. It opens for the season on May 29th.

Coney Island

The Sunlite Pool on Coney Island, Cincinnati is North America’s largest recirculation pool. It has more than an acre of shallow water. Ready for the deep end? There is a separate pool for diving boards and four water slides. Opening day is the 29.05.

Soak city

Soak City Water Park is part of Kings Island in Mason, just outside of Cincinnati. There are two wave pools, 36 water slides and a relaxing lagoon. It opens on May 29th.

Zoombezi Bay

Zoombezi Bay is operated by the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium. It has some of the best water slides in the state, as well as a 1,000-gallon bucket dump, lazy rivers, and a wave pool. It opens on May 22nd.
