CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati baseball team scored six runs in the first inning towards an 11-1, seven innings against Tulane in the American Athletic Conference at UC Baseball Stadium on Friday.
The game ended after seven innings as the AAC 10-run rule was in effect. Cincinnati (28-24, 17-14 AAC) won the series over Tulane (28-21, 17-9 AAC), the final on Saturday is still pending.
UC’s first five strokes of the game hit with Cole Harting and Jace Mercer hitting back-to-back singles, Eric Santiago reaching for a mistake Harting scored, Ryan Nicholson’s RBI single to the right, and Paul Komistek’s triple laser shot, which landed nearly 400 feet from home plate near O’Varsity Way.

Dondrae Bremner jumped into the action with her own two-out single, scoring the last run of the inning courtesy of a Joe Powell RBI single in right field.
That was all it would take UC starter Evan Shawver to throw 90 pitches in a 6.0 inning outing, hit eight, and give up a run on two hits. He scored a career strikeout of 150 during the game and moved to 3-1 in the year. Dean McCarthy finished seventh, hitting two in a one-inning session.
