Athletics Colonels compete at the Oliver Nikoloff Invitational in Cincinnati
Cincinnati, Ohio – Eastern Kentucky University’s track and field teams attended the University of Cincinnati’s Oliver Nikoloff Invitational at Coy Field and Gettler Stadium on Saturday.
The newcomers Laura Taborda (10: 55.9), the second Saskia Pingpank (10: 57.5) and the newcomers Anouk van Gils (11: 03.4) opened the day by taking the first three places in the 3,000 meters – Obstacle races for women. Her times this season are 2-4 in the OVC and 3-5 in the EKU list of all times.
The newcomers Lou Trois (4: 27.2) and Taborda (4: 27.6) followed with a 1: 2 on the 1,500 meters of the women. Her times are currently the two fastest in the OVC.
Sophomore Jeanne Reix Charat was fifth in the women’s 5,000 meters and drove a time of 17: 23.2. At the weekend this time is number 2 in the OVC.
In the men’s category, Junior Jackson Siddall took silver in the 800 meters with a time of 1: 55.5, which is 5th in the OVC. The newcomer Charles Kipchumba took sixth place on the 1,500 meters with a time of 3: 54.0. This is currently number 7 in the conference.
Junior Samuel Carter finished second in the 100 meters with a time of April 11th. In the triple jump he finished second with a jump of 46-0.75.
The EKU men – consisting of Drew Sawyers, Logan Sullivan, AJ Moss and Liam Kaune – won the men’s 4×400 meter relay with a time of 3: 25.2
The athletics colonels will be split between the Joe Walker Invitational in Oxford, Mississippi and the Jim Vargo Invitational in Louisville this coming weekend.
