GREENVILLE, NC (WITN) – Freshman Carson Whisenhunt hit 10 batters over four innings on his first college start when the No. 13 baseball finished the Rhode Island weekend series with a 4-12 win Sunday afternoon at Clark-LeClair Stadium .

“You are going to have some games where you have to punch, throw, punch, weather the storm and just keep dragging, and I thought our guys did that at their peak this weekend. We weren’t perfect, what I tell our boys, we’re not trying to play perfectly, we’re just trying to play aggressively and play more often and win more places than the other team, ”said ECU head coach Cliff Godwin.
“It feels great,” added Whisenhunt. “I’ve put a lot of work into it and I know what I can do. I just have to keep working hard and keep going out and filling the zone. “
The pirates (3: 0) will then receive Duke (1: 1) at the Clark LeClair Stadium at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, February 23. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN +.
